The Kevin Borich Express stormed through Perth on the weekend of August 19th – 20th, leaving in their wake a trail of happy listeners and fans old and new. The Charles Hotel and Fly By Night Club reverberated to the sound of screaming guitars as Kevin, Harry Brus (bass) and Paul Wheeler (drums) cranked out a selection of hits from the extensive Borich catalogue, spiced with a few classic blues-rock covers that kept toes tapping and heads nodding throughout both nights.
Supporting the Kevin Borich Express was a fair example of the West’s own guitar stars, with Graham Greene and Mike de Velta warming up the Charles crowd, and Dom Mariani’s Datura and Custom Royal getting proceedings under way at the Fly By Night Club. Both crowds were warm and receptive, obviously appreciating the talent on show for what was Kevin’s first WA tour through Decibel Events and Guitar Gods.
Kevin and band have now departed for more gigs on the east coast, leaving behind a warm feeling of kinship felt by bands and audiences alike. Great shows, time well spent, and a very positive sign of even better things to come.
